Earlier this month, our CEO Alan Cutler joined the London NatWest Business Accelerator to take part in a Q&A session focused on sales growth, marketing strategy and preparing businesses for future exits.
The session formed part of the Accelerator's "Grow Your Sales" programme and centred around experimentation, tracking performance data and understanding which commercial strategies businesses should prioritise as they scale.
Alan shared practical insights from building and growing multiple businesses across different sectors, discussing the importance of understanding customer acquisition costs, tracking marketing performance and building scalable sales systems.
The discussion also focused on how business owners should begin thinking about exit preparation much earlier than many typically do. Topics included:
- The importance of reliable management information
- Understanding key business metrics
- Building operational systems
- Reducing over-reliance on owners
- Developing scalable customer acquisition channels
- Preparing businesses for future growth or sale opportunities
Alan also discussed the role data plays in improving business decision making, highlighting how many SMEs fail to properly track the information which ultimately becomes critical during funding discussions or acquisition due diligence.
The event formed part of a wider programme hosted by the NatWest Business Accelerator, including sessions around AI, pitching and business growth.
