Keylite Roof Windows has acquired the Em.glaze and Ray.lux flat glass rooflight product ranges from Whitesales in a multimillion-pound transaction. The deal is part of Keylite's wider growth strategy and gives it a stronger position in the flat rooflight segment.
Keylite, part of The Keystone Group, already manufactures pitched roof windows. Adding two established flat rooflight ranges means it can now offer a broader product set to builders merchants and trade customers without having to develop the products from scratch. Whitesales will continue to operate and will work alongside Keylite following the transaction.
This type of deal is becoming more common in building products. Manufacturers are consolidating product lines rather than starting new ones, particularly when construction activity is under pressure. Buying a proven range with existing customers and distribution is faster and less risky than launching something new into a difficult market.
For owner-managed businesses in the supply chain, it's a reminder that product portfolios have value on their own. A well-regarded brand or a range with loyal trade customers can be attractive to a larger operator even if the underlying business isn't being sold as a whole. That optionality matters when thinking about what you've built and how it might eventually transition.
The deal also shows that M&A activity in building products hasn't stopped, even as the construction market remains patchy. Buyers with capital and a clear strategy are still moving, especially when they can add capability without taking on complexity. Scale and diversification remain the drivers, and product acquisitions are often a cleaner route than full business mergers.
